Teen Mental Health and Food Drive - Dec 2023
Fairfax County Public Schools reported almost 3,000 youth without the support of a parent or guardian in the 2018-2019 school year. This becomes even more alarming when considering the prevalence of drug and human trafficking in the county. Now more than ever, it’s important to give teens a safe space. Fairfax County’s Second Story for Teens in Crisis offers a temporary space for teens to receive intervention and counseling.
The Vishnu Murthy Foundation has worked with Second Story for Teens in Crisis to spread awareness regarding mental health while assisting teens with food insecurity. We packed 40 lunch bags, including Mac and Cheese, Soup, Yogurt, and other healthy snacks for the teenagers to take home. Additionally, we compiled resources and strategies for students in a presentation on mental health, handed out stress balls, and interacted with teens through engaging games.
Thank you to all the volunteers: Ankith, Diana, Manya, Milan, Samhita, Shan, Siddanth, Veda, and Vivikta. Thank you to the adults who participated: Mythri, Nikhila, Shubha, and Sowmya.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the donors who have donated to this event and to Vishnu Murthy Foundation. Your contribution brightened the lives of many teens today.
Dear Vishnu, we love you and you will forever be in our hearts.
Happy Holidays to everyone.
